Sherwood

Once a part of the Town of Jasper Place, Sherwood joined Edmonton in 1964, boasting a street layout blending grid and modified grid patterns. Most of Sherwood’s growth unfolded in the 1950s, closely following Jasper Place’s incorporation, with single-detached homes dominating the residential landscape. Along 149 Street, low-rise apartments provide additional housing options. In recent years, Sherwood has witnessed substantial residential rejuvenation, resulting in a diverse array of housing styles, types, and ages. The neighborhood’s name, “Sherwood,” evokes the renowned Sherwood Forest of Nottinghamshire, England, famed as the legendary realm of Robin Hood’s adventures.
