Wellington

Wellington, situated between 132 Avenue and 137 Avenue, west of 127 Street, is steeped in history, dating back to its annexation into Edmonton in 1913. Although initially slow to develop, Wellington blossomed in the 1950s, with the bulk of its residential landscape taking shape during the 1960s. Almost exclusively comprising single-detached houses, the neighborhood also features semi-detached homes, row housing, and low-rise apartments, particularly along 140 Street. Embracing a classic neighborhood design, Wellington centers around a focal point: the central school and park site, complemented by a network of smaller parks. Named after Arthur Wellesley, the renowned first Duke of Wellington, whose triumph at the Battle of Waterloo resonates through history, Wellington Park has stood as a testament to the area’s enduring heritage since 1910.
