Carter Crest
Situated within the Riverbend area, Carter Crest is neatly bordered by Terwillegar Drive to the west, Rabbit Hill Road to the north and northeast, and a private power corporation’s right-of-way to the south. The neighborhood’s residential landscape took shape mainly in the 1990s, with its gentle undulating terrain, remnants of the glacial Lake Edmonton bed, once utilized for agriculture. Carter Crest was meticulously planned to harmonize with its surroundings, offering residents an inviting community ambiance. Designed with a focus on limiting traffic impact, its interior features looped roads and cul-de-sacs, promoting pedestrian and cyclist-friendly pathways. While lacking commercial spaces, Terwillegar Drive offers a gateway to external amenities, complementing Carter Crest’s blend of low and medium-density housing, with single-detached homes predominating. Named after Robert I. Carter, a prominent Canadian government agent and community figure, Carter Crest honors his legacy and contributions to both Edmonton’s development and local politics, showcasing a rich history tied to the area’s roots.
