Britannia-Youngstown

Originally, Britannia and Youngstown were distinct subdivisions within the Town of Jasper Place, with Britannia appearing on city maps as early as 1912. Developed in the 1950s, Britannia and Youngstown gradually merged into one community. Upon annexation by Edmonton in 1964, the neighborhood witnessed a surge in single-detached housing and the establishment of Westlawn Memorial Park. Over time, the area experienced significant changes, including commercial and residential development, with Mayfield Common Shopping Centre becoming a prominent feature. Today, Britannia-Youngstown boasts a mix of high-density development along its borders and lower-density housing in its interior, complemented by commercial amenities lining Stony Plain Road to the south.
