Strathearn

Nestled within the historic Edmonton Settlement, Strathearn’s roots trace back to River Lots 21 and 23, where pioneers like J. McKernan and W. Bird left their mark. Annexed by Strathcona in 1907 and later joining Edmonton in 1912, Strathearn remained largely undeveloped until the post-war boom of the late 1940s and 1950s. This period saw the emergence of its iconic single-detached homes and neighborhood amenities, including the Strathearn Heights apartment complex, a testament to the era’s demand for rental accommodations. In a nod to its heritage, a significant rezoning in 2008 paved the way for a vibrant mixed-use development, preserving Strathearn’s legacy while embracing modern urban living. Named possibly after Prince Arthur, the Duke of Connaught and Strathearn, Strathearn embodies a timeless blend of tradition and progress.
