Royal Gardens
Situated in the Petrolia subdivision of south-central Edmonton, Royal Gardens is primarily a residential area, its development largely occurring in the 1960s, featuring predominantly single-detached homes. Multi-family complexes line the borders along 40 Avenue and 122 Street, offering diverse housing options. The neighborhood boasts four schools, including high schools set amidst expansive recreational grounds, including Confederation Pool, providing ample opportunities for leisure and education. While commercial development within Royal Gardens is limited, residents benefit from the proximity of Southgate Mall for their shopping needs. The neighborhood’s name, Royal Gardens, is thought to honor Joseph Royal, a prominent figure who served as lieutenant governor of the Northwest Territories from 1888 to 1893, with the name being officially adopted in 1962.
