Parkallen
Parkallen, an established community, lies close to Southgate Shopping Centre and the University of Alberta South Campus, embraced by major arterials. The neighborhood flourished primarily post-World War II, adopting a street layout typical of that era’s urban planning trends. Characterized by single-detached homes, especially bungalows and semi-bungalows, Parkallen radiates a cozy residential ambiance.
Its design centers around a central park and school site, fostering a sense of community and recreation. Adjacent to the park, one finds low-rise apartments and a modest commercial area, enhancing local convenience and vibrancy. Originally named Beau Park and Bridgeland, Parkallen acquired its current name in 1945 through a collaborative effort by the Calgary Trail Community League and its residents.
