KingEdward Park
King Edward Park, nestled between 82nd and 76th Avenues with the scenic Mill Creek Ravine to the west, boasts a rich history dating back to the 1870s when portions were cultivated by farmer James Inkster. Reflecting Edmonton’s growth trajectory, its western section, annexed by Strathcona in 1907 and later amalgamated with Edmonton in 1912, boasts some of the neighborhood’s oldest structures, echoing the bygone era of train whistles from the Edmonton, Yukon, and Pacific Railway. Development surged in the 1950s, expanding eastward in 1960, with a diverse mix of housing including single-detached homes, apartments, semi-detached residences, and row housing catering to its vibrant community. Anchored by commercial hubs along 82nd Avenue and 75th Street, and complemented by amenities like Bonnie Doon Mall, King Edward Park cherishes its namesake, King Edward VII, honoring his legacy as Queen Victoria’s eldest son.
