Kernohan

Nestled south of 137 Avenue and east of Victoria Trail, Kernohan enjoys picturesque surroundings, with Kennedale Ravine to the south and the North Saskatchewan River Valley to the east. Annexed to Edmonton in 1961, Kernohan flourished during the 1970s amidst the city’s oil-driven economic boom, resulting in the development of much of its residential land. The neighborhood boasts a blend of housing types, including multi-unit structures along Victoria Trail and row housing, which collectively offer diverse living options. At its heart lies Kernohan Park and Ann Fitzgerald Catholic Elementary School, serving as focal points for community engagement and recreation. Kernohan pays homage to James Kernohan, a pioneering figure in Alberta’s early days, whose legacy as a farmer and coal miner continues to resonate through the neighborhood’s rich history.
