Grandview Heights

Set in the southwest of Edmonton, Grandview Heights boasts a rich history dating back to 1882 when it was part of the McCauley family’s land holding. Although initially subdivided during the early 1900s land boom, residential development didn’t commence until much later. Finally annexed by Edmonton in 1913, Grandview Heights saw significant growth only in the late 1950s and early 1960s when it was meticulously subdivided into its present layout.
Bordered by the majestic North Saskatchewan River Valley and Whitemud Creek Ravine to the north and west, the neighborhood offers residents stunning natural vistas. On its southern and eastern fringes lie the expansive fields of the University of Alberta Farm. Predominantly adorned with single-detached homes, Grandview Heights also features a charming low-rise apartment complex in its southwestern enclave.
Educational, recreational, commercial, and institutional amenities dot the landscape, ensuring residents have everything they need within easy reach. Adding to its allure, the neighborhood’s interior streets boast graceful curvilinear patterns, accentuated by quaint pocket parks nestled within expanded road rights-of-way. Rich with heritage, the name “Grandview Heights” harkens back to the area’s settlement era, likely inspired by the panoramic views of the river and creek valleys gracing its northern and western borders.
