Elmwood
Elmwood, once part of Jasper Place, offered a residential escape from the bustling city until its integration into Edmonton in 1964. Bordered by Whitemud Drive to the south, 170 Street to the west, 87 Avenue to the north, and 159 Street to the east, Elmwood boasts a tranquil suburban setting. Developed primarily in the 1960s, the neighbourhood showcases predominantly single-detached houses, embodying a classic charm. Centrally positioned schools and a small commercial hub provide convenient amenities adjacent to collector roads, ensuring easy access for residents. With a freeway and major arterials flanking three sides, Elmwood offers seamless connectivity to the city’s western attractions, including the Misericordia Hospital and the renowned West Edmonton Mall. Formerly known as West Lynnwood, Elmwood’s rich history includes the earlier designation of the western segment as Eureka in the 1910s, reflecting its enduring character and evolving identity over time.
