Ellerslie

Ellerslie, a meticulously planned neighbourhood since the early 2000s, swiftly blossomed with construction, completing its residential sections in record time. Situated between Anthony Henday Drive to the north and 91st Street/Parsons Road to the west, Ellerslie Road to the south, and 66th Avenue to the east, its boundaries enclose a vibrant community. Offering a diverse array of residential structures, from single and semi-detached homes to row housing and low-rise apartments, Ellerslie caters to varied lifestyles. Embracing its natural surroundings, the neighbourhood boasts lush tree stands and interconnected parks, fostering ample recreational opportunities via well-placed pathways. Designed as a cohesive “neighbourhood unit,” Ellerslie strategically places school/park and community facilities at its heart, encircled by arterial roads, with minimal commercial and institutional spaces to fulfill local service needs. Originating from historical tales, the name “Ellerslie” carries echoes of Scottish heritage, possibly inspired by Ellerslie House or drawn from the pages of Sir William Scott’s novel, a legacy immortalized by the establishment of Ellerslie School District in 1895 and the inception of its post office in 1896.
