Delton

Delton, a quaint Edmonton neighborhood, joined the city’s fold in 1910, marking a period of rapid urban expansion. Initially, it stood amidst vast swathes of undeveloped land, adjacent to the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway. Despite its early annexation, Delton’s residential development primarily unfolded post-World War II, showcasing a grid pattern of streets reminiscent of pre-WWI planning. Commercial activity thrives along 97th Street, while the neighborhood’s interior streets offer a serene ambiance, adorned predominantly by single-detached homes. Delton Park, nestled in the northeast, serves as a verdant retreat for residents, echoing the area’s peaceful allure. Named in honor of Edward Delegare “Del” Grierson, a prominent figure in Edmonton’s early history, Delton’s heritage is deeply intertwined with Grierson’s legacy of civic engagement and property ownership.
