Bisset
Bisset is part of the vibrant Mill Woods area in Edmonton, established when the Government of Alberta assembled the land bank in 1970. Named for the Mill Creek and its surrounding parkland forests, Bisset was initially planned for high-density development but evolved with many areas being rezoned for low-density, single-detached homes. Most of its residential development took place during the 1980s. Bisset is part of the Ridgewood Community League, founded on June 2, 1982, and is bordered by 23 Avenue and 34 Avenue, and 34 Street and Mill Woods Road East. A collector road and bus route, 26 Avenue, runs through it, supporting the neighbourhood’s design to ensure efficient traffic flow while keeping residential streets quiet. The neighbourhood features curvilinear streets and cul-de-sacs, with numerous pathways and a pipeline right-of-way that encourage walking and biking. Bisset was named in honour of Judge Athelstan Bisset, Q.C., a notable local alderman and judge, commemorating his contributions to the community.
