Beaumaris
Beaumaris, nestled within Edmonton’s Castle Downs area, became part of the city in 1971. Development in this area began shortly after annexation, with construction continuing well into the 1980s. Like its neighbouring communities, Beaumaris was named with a nod to regality and history, inspired by the famous Welsh castle of the same name. This theme of nobility is cleverly reflected in the neighbourhood’s design, where the layout around Castle Keep Road and the central feature of Beaumaris Lake mimic the architectural elements of a fortress castle and its moat. Developed by Business and Construction Materials Inc., now known as Genstar, the area was designed to bring a touch of medieval grandeur to modern living, providing residents with a uniquely thematic and picturesque living environment.
