Ambleside
Ambleside, nestled in southwest Edmonton within the Windermere Area Structure Plan, is a community designed with connectivity and diversity in mind. Bordered by major roads and the scenic Whitemud Creek Ravine, the neighborhood is a blend of green spaces, parks, and ponds linked by walkable pathways. Since the neighborhood plan’s approval in 2005, development has introduced a variety of housing densities and land uses including residential, commercial, and recreational areas, with more still to come. Notably, the eastern side of Ambleside hosts business and institutional facilities, including an Ecostation and a fire station, while the western part is more residential and leisure-focused. The community also boasts the large Currents of Windermere shopping center to the north, enhancing the local amenities. Named after a historic town in England known for its Victorian charm and notable residents like William Wordsworth, Ambleside in Edmonton mirrors this blend of heritage and modern living.
