Summerlea

Nestled west of 170th Street and south of 95th Avenue, Summerlea boasts the iconic West Edmonton Mall as its centerpiece, a bustling hub of shopping and entertainment. Development in this vibrant neighborhood commenced in the 1970s, with a residential focus initially envisioned to mirror adjacent areas. However, the Mall’s growth altered Summerlea’s landscape, reshaping available residential space. Despite this, a blend of single-detached and multi-family homes, predominantly built during the late 1970s and 1980s, characterizes the existing residential area. Continuous construction has introduced new housing units, with apartments under five stories constituting the majority.
Summerlea’s allure extends beyond housing, with ample parkland enhancing its appeal, while the Mall’s proximity ensures convenient access to diverse commercial and service offerings, along with robust transit links. The neighborhood’s name, evoking images of a sun-kissed meadow, aptly captures its abundant green spaces and vibrant atmosphere.
