Parkview

Parkview, situated alongside the North Saskatchewan River Valley in the western part of the city, is one of Edmonton’s larger residential neighborhoods. Its layout, built upon a modified grid network, allows for easy navigation throughout the area. Developed primarily during the mid-to-late 1950s, Parkview predominantly features single-detached houses, with a small apartment-style building nestled near the heart of the neighborhood. The Valleyview Shopping Centre, located centrally on 142nd Street, serves as a unique commercial focal point within the residential enclave. Reflecting its picturesque surroundings, Parkview derives its name from the scenic views offered of the nearby River Valley, while also preserving the historical charm of its eastern segment, once known as Valleyview. Incorporating elements of the former Bueno Vista subdivision, Parkview’s nomenclature pays homage to the natural beauty and tranquil setting of the area.
