Ozerna

In Edmonton’s Lake District, Ozerna marks the southeast corner, enclosed by major avenues. Designed with the “neighbourhood unit concept,” it centers around a school and park site, fostering community cohesion. Open spaces like a stormwater management lake and linear park enhance the neighborhood’s charm and connectivity. Arterial roads are strategically separated to deter through traffic, promoting local tranquility.
Construction began in the 1980s, extending into the 2000s, mainly featuring single-detached homes. Alongside these, medium-density options like semi-detached houses and low-rise apartments enrich housing diversity. Reflecting its surroundings, Ozerna derives its name from Ukrainian, meaning “lake area,” echoing the district’s aquatic theme.
