Mcleod
Nestled in north Edmonton within the Casselman-Steele District Outline Plan area, McLeod is bounded by 153rd Avenue to the north, 58th Street to the east, 144th Avenue to the south, and 66th Street to the west. Residential development in McLeod gained momentum in the 1950s and by 1980, the neighborhood was nearly fully developed. Characterized by predominantly single-detached homes, most of which were constructed during the 1960s, McLeod also saw some higher density infill development in the 1970s. Reflecting the design trends of its time, McLeod features streets arranged in crescents and cul-de-sacs, fostering a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Named in honor of Murdoch McLeod, an intrepid pioneer, the neighborhood pays homage to his adventurous spirit and contributions to Edmonton’s early days.
