Blue Quill Estates
Blue Quill Estates, located within the Kaskitayo Outline Plan Area, was annexed by the City of Edmonton in 1971, with residential development commencing in the early 1970s. This neighbourhood offers a diverse range of housing, featuring apartments and row houses along major access routes, and single-detached homes near the Whitemud Creek Ravine and throughout the interior. The heart of Blue Quill Estates is a centrally located multi-purpose recreational site, providing a focal point for community activities. It is flanked by the Whitemud Creek Ravine to the west and the Blackmud Creek Ravine to the south, both of which offer extensive opportunities for all-season outdoor recreation amidst natural surroundings. The neighbourhood is designed with numerous pathways to enhance pedestrian and bicycle travel within and around the ravines. Following the Kaskitayo area’s tradition of honouring Aboriginal leaders, Blue Quill Estates is named after Cree Chief Blue Quill of the Saddle Lake Indian Reserve, established in 1889, who was active in trading in Edmonton in the late 1890s.
