Blackburne

The Blackburne neighbourhood, part of Edmonton since its annexation on January 1, 1982, began development in the 1990s. Predominantly residential, it mainly features single-detached homes. Positioned to the south of Bearspaw and east of Richford, Blackburne is encircled by notable boundaries: the Anthony Henday ring road to the north, 111th Street to the west, Blackmud Ravine to the south, and Calgary Trail (Queen Elizabeth II Highway) to the east. The neighbourhood overlooks the scenic Blackmud Creek Ravine, with Blackburn Park offering picturesque views at the southern edge. Access to Blackburne is exclusively via Blackburn Drive on its eastern border. The name “Blackburne” reflects its proximity to Blackmud Creek and incorporates “burne,” an old English word for stream or river, highlighting the area’s natural features.
