Avonmore

Avonmore, a quaint neighborhood in Edmonton, saw most of its development in the 1950s, primarily consisting of single-family homes. The area offers neighborhood commercial outlets to meet residents’ convenience needs, with additional shopping and services available at the nearby Bonnie Doon Mall. Bounded by major roads on the east and southeast and a collector roadway to the north, Avonmore enjoys a natural boundary to the west with Mill Creek Ravine. This ravine links to the North Saskatchewan River Valley park system, providing residents with abundant recreational opportunities. The neighborhood is named after Algernon William Yelverton, Viscount Avonmore, an Irish priest and adventurer, highlighting its rich and adventurous historical background.
