Windsor Park
Windsor Park, originally River Lot 3, began its journey as farmland tended by Allan Omand in the late 19th century, alongside the budding campus of the University of Alberta on River Lot 5. Despite its early subdivision in 1911, significant development didn’t take root until the mid-20th century, gaining momentum with the construction of the Groat Road Bridge in 1955. Today, the neighborhood thrives as a serene enclave bordered by the University’s sprawling campus to the east and the picturesque North Saskatchewan River Valley to the west and north, offering residents easy access to both natural beauty and urban amenities. Comprising predominantly single-detached homes, Windsor Park exudes a timeless charm, with a handful of businesses dotting its streetscape along 87th Avenue. Its name, possibly inspired by Windsor, England, or the illustrious Windsor Castle, echoes the neighborhood’s regal allure and historic legacy.
