Westwood
Westwood, annexed by Edmonton in 1910, blossomed into a residential haven after World War II, with charming single-detached homes dotting its landscape. The neighbourhood’s evolution saw the rise of low-rise apartments during the 1960s, particularly south of 120 Avenue, coinciding with the establishment of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) nearby. Initially secluded, Westwood saw its connections improve with the expansion of major roads like Yellowhead Trail and 107 Street, transforming its once rustic environment. Despite some changes, Westwood retains its community essence with amenities like H. A. Grey Public School, the Westwood Sports Arena, and vibrant commercial spaces, ensuring residents enjoy a balanced urban lifestyle.
