Walker

Walker, situated in the southeast of Edmonton, stands as one of the city’s newer neighborhoods, brimming with promise and vitality. Bounded by Ellerslie Road SW to the north, 25 Avenue SW to the south, and stretching between 50th Street and 66 Street, its growth trajectory is guided by the Walker Neighbourhood Structure Plan since its adoption in April 2007. As development progresses from the northwest to the south and west, Walker envisages a diverse housing landscape, ranging from low to high density. The neighborhood’s blueprint includes strategic provisions such as commercial hubs, transit centers, parks, and stormwater management facilities, designed to foster a vibrant community spirit. Named in honor of George Walker, a stalwart in Alberta’s urban development scene, its streets pay homage to other notable figures, each contributing their mark to Edmonton’s rich tapestry of history and progress.
