Fraser

Nestled along the northern banks of the North Saskatchewan River Valley, Fraser is a welcoming residential neighborhood bounded by 144th Avenue to 153rd Avenue and west of 18th Street to Victoria Trail. Annexed to the City of Edmonton in 1961, Fraser emerged as part of the Clareview Outline Plan in 1972, with its own Neighborhood Structure Plan approved a decade later. While much of Fraser’s western half blossomed during the vibrant 1970s and 1980s, the eastern section developed more gradually, with some residential plots still awaiting construction. At the heart of Fraser lies a versatile school and recreation hub, complemented by a scenic trail system linking residents to the nearby River Valley, while a cozy neighborhood shopping center awaits at Victoria Trail and 161st Avenue. The neighborhood honors John Fraser (1840-1919), an early settler and passionate advocate for education, whose legacy echoes through the community’s spirit of learning and growth.
