Baturyn

Baturyn, nestled in the northeast corner of Edmonton’s Castle Downs area, is a tranquil low-density residential neighbourhood. It predominantly features single and semi-detached homes, supplemented by a few row houses and low-rise apartments. The homes are thoughtfully arranged along a curvilinear internal road network designed with loops and cul-de-sacs that link to a main collector roadway. This setup ensures a quiet, private environment, shielded from the busier arterial roads that border the area. At the heart of the community lies a large school and park site, with two additional smaller parks on the eastern and western sides enhancing local green space. Reflecting the Castle Downs tradition of naming neighbourhoods after castles, Baturyn is named after a historic castle in northeast Ukraine, renowned for its dramatic history of destruction in 1708 and subsequent reconstruction.
